Thanks to Linda at Playing With Fire and Water for masterminding the ORGASMIC hoax and organizing a few of us in the plan... evil laughs emanating from behind her computer. It was too funny, and also interesting to see how others played out the joke. It was a great way to really have fun with something that is a truly ridiculous topic in the food world. It was also pretty funny to read the comments I got.
In the true spirit of the day, we weren't the only ones out there trying to pull a fast one.
Carol at Alinea at Home tried to convince us she was going to play with duct tape in the Alinea kitchen. Was Michael Ruhlman involved?
Cannot find the link now, but read somewhere that Thomas Keller was retiring, selling the French Laundry and Bouchon to Grant Achatz, and selling Per Se to David Change to expand on Ko. That would definitely show up in a google search... but, no.
I read on Civil Eats that Alice Waters is launching a line of sustainable frozen dinners priced at $20 each. This may have been an April Fools joke, but sadly it may not be.
I never realized how great 1 April was... just like Ricky Bobby using the phrase "with all due respect, sir" before insulting or belittling his boss. It's free reign to outright lie and even drag other names into it your farce with no remorse. "Just because you say 'with all due respect' doesn't give you the right to say whatever you want." "Yes it does!"
I do apologize, however, for the lapsed few days without a food post. There was a recipe I wanted to post today, but forgot my notes in the kitchen. Catch up with you tomorrow.
